What is a Doula?

A doula is a professional that supports families through transitions like fertility, birth, postpartum, and end of life.

Doulas are trained professionals providing continuous physical, emotional, informational, and advocacy support to individuals and their families. Doulas provide comprehensive non-medical support assistance and provide referrals to community-based organizations, social service organizations, and certified and licensed professionals in multiple disciplines. While doulas are not medical providers, we are part of the care team - helping families with the support and education they need to make informed choices.

Evidence shows that birth doulas improve birth outcomes.

Numerous studies show that when a doula is present for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, families experience evidence-based care with fewer interventions and higher satisfaction with their birth and postpartum experience.
